Choosing Sampling Locations in Your Home
Where you place a sampler shapes what it measures. A practical guide to representative placement.
Homeowners · Sampling technique
Place area samplers at breathing height — roughly 3 to 5 feet from the floor — in the room where your concern is strongest.
Avoid direct airflow from vents, open windows, and fans, which can bias results. Avoid placing samplers directly on or next to a suspected source.
For comparisons, deploy samplers in multiple rooms during the same window and keep conditions consistent.
